About ACI Alliance

The American Cochlear Implant Alliance is a not-for-profit membership organization created with the purpose of eliminating barriers to cochlear implantation by sponsoring research, driving heightened awareness and advocating for improved access to cochlear implants for patients of all ages across the US. ACI Alliance members are clinicians, scientists, educators, and others on cochlear implant teams as well as parent and consumer advocates. An annual meeting for professional members is convened.

About CI2021

The CI2021 conference will foster dissemination of multi-disciplinary scientific information applicable to audiologists, physicians, speech pathologists, scientists, engineers, educators, students, advocates and others involved in cochlear implantation. The conference will provide attendees with opportunities to explore current and emerging topics for CI patients across the lifespan.

The physical meeting will be held at the Hyatt Regency Dallas but only if it is safe to do so. We are also planning virtual offerings. We are developing plans for how the meeting could be structured to ensure sanitation and disinfection of common areas and keeping attendees at distance from one another and are working with the Hyatt on these plans. We will continue to assess the feasibility of a physical meeting over the coming months. If it is determined that a physical meeting is not possible, we would conduct the meeting entirely online.

Anticipated topics for the CI2021 meeting include the use of telehealth for CI patients, the impact of a team approach, management of special needs populations, cognition and effect on CI outcomes, advances in CI technology and surgical techniques, roles of therapy and family engagement, the role of vestibular assessment in the CI process and more!

Abstract submissions for CI2021 Presentations will open in August 2020. CME and CEU credits will be provided for this activity

Student Scholarships are offered annually by the American Cochlear Implant Alliance. Check back for application details.  

Abstract Submission

The Call for Abstracts for CI2021 will open in August 2020.

The ACI Alliance Scientific Program Committee, comprised of CI clinicians, researchers, and educators, will lead development of the program. The Program Committee encourages submission of your scientific contributions for presentation at the meeting.

  • The Program Committee encourages abstracts addressing how cochlear implantation can continue to be provided during the COVID pandemic timeframe without sacrificing care.  We are especially interested in scientific papers on telehealth.
  • Please note there will be NO PENALTIES for resubmitting your 2020 abstract or a modified version for consideration in 2021. 
  • The Author’s intent to participate in a physical meeting will be collected during the abstract submission process. If there is a physical meeting, preference will be given to those who will attend the conference and present in person.
  • Additional details and requirements for authors will follow in August 2020.

Review and Notification

The Program Committee has the responsibility to review and rank all abstracts that are submitted. Abstracts will be considered for both Podium and Poster Presentations. Email notifications will be sent to the corresponding author.

Student Poster Competition

A Student Poster Competition will be held for those enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or resident program. An academic advisor or another university official must verify student/resident status. Students may enter a poster abstract for the competition as part of the CI2021 Call for Abstracts.
